ColemanPrincipal Keishla Coleman

Keishla Coleman joined the DeSoto ISD team in 2017 as the principal of Amber Terrace Discovery and Design Early Childhood Academy.  She began her career in education with the Dallas Independent School District in 1994, serving as a Pre K and Kindergarten teacher at various elementary schools until 2005.  Ms. Coleman then became an Instructional Coach at Roger Q. Mills Elementary, where she provided instructional support to Pre K-3rd grade teachers.  After five years, of coaching and training teachers, she began a tenure serving as the Assistant Principal at K. B. Polk Vanguard Elementary.  She served in this capacity until 2016, when she joined the Early Learning Department as an Instructional Specialist. 
Ms. Coleman’s educational credentials include earning a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, with a specialization in Early Childhood, from East Texas State University, as well as her Master’s degree from Prairie View A&M University in Educational Leadership.

Through her roles an administrator and instructional specialist, Ms. Coleman, has developed expertise in meeting the needs of students and teachers in a manner that encourages and guides them in maximizing their potential.  She firmly believes that everyday brings a new opportunity and reminder of the commitment, resilience, and integrity that a school leader must exemplify for positive change in a progressive school community.  The role of an educator is a divine calling to lead, inspire, and make a difference.  Keishla Coleman is proud to have answered that call over twenty years ago and feels privileged to have the opportunity and responsibility to pour into the lives of all students and stakeholders in the community.  

During her free time, Ms. Coleman enjoys, reading, shopping, and spending time with her family.
